Fern is the result from my 2nd year ever of kidding. At the time I knew next to nothing about what to look for in a breeding, and just sort of threw her dam, Daisy, in with a buck, and boy am I so glad I did this breeding! As soon as Fern hit the ground I knew she was going to be one of the good ones, and she most certainly has been. Throughout the years she has consistently placed at the head of the class, even picking up a grand champion leg. If I would’ve been able to get her out to a show in 2020 I’m confident she would’ve finished her championship. She most certainly is one that just gets better throughout the years. Not only is she a strong show doe but she also is the highest producing in the milk room. At her peak she has produced 13.8 pounds ( barn records), and she holds a steady location all the way to being dried off. My favorite quality about her though, is that she consistently outproduces herself in the quality of her kids. My only complaint is that she needs to throw more doe kids for me!

2022: Fern has definitely made her mark in this herd. Almost no matter where you look she will likely be in a pedigree except for a few select animals. Although she didn’t give me many doe kids, the ones she did give most certainly made it count. Although I’m not looking forward to doing this, we are “lightly retiring” Fern for the following year, just due to number purposes & she has earned a much needed break. Now it’s time for her daughters and granddaughters/sons to have the spotlight!
